NASA Acres is a U.S.-focused agriculture and food security consortium under NASA's Earth Science Division, built to turn satellite Earth observation data into tools producers can actually use in the field.

For decades, NASA has watched American farmland from orbit — tracking vegetation, soil conditions, and yield changes over time. NASA Acres exists to take that vantage point and turn it into something a producer can use to make a decision, not just a dataset that sits in a research paper.

FIAT (Farm Innovation Ambassador Team)

FIAT flips the usual research model. Instead of studying agriculture from a distance, it puts working farmers and ranchers directly alongside NASA researchers, shaping which questions get asked and testing whether the resulting tools hold up on real ground. Because the underlying data is taxpayer-funded, it's free and open to producers — no cost to access or use it.
